Employee Spotlight: Get to Know Pam Gibbons

Updated: Feb 23

What is your current role?

Technical Recruiter

How long have you worked at Uplift?

1.5 yr

What do you like about working at Uplift?

I enjoy the variety of industries, projects and clients our teams get to work with. I love that I work with smart but humble. I love being able to laugh at work and it seems there is plenty of opportunity for this!

What is your favorite thing about your job?

I love being a professional matchmaker! It is rewarding to be able to find the right people for the right job and watching them thrive.

What does your day to day look like in your role?

I start my morning by looking at my calendar to see what meetings and appointments I have. I attend our daily stand-up to help prioritize the day. I send out a lot of networking messages to people, so I check to see what kind of responses I have received and follow up accordingly. I like to try to take potential candidates to coffee or lunch but there aren't as many "takers" since the pandemic started.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

My proudest personal accomplishment would be raising my children. Kelsey is 25 and is a Sr. Process Engineer for Target Corporate in Minneapolis and my son Kolby is a Freshman at Johnston and is involved in Football, Wrestling and Track. My proudest professional accomplishment is always finding the right person for the right job. Starting a career with a new company is a big part of someone's life and being part of that is always exciting.

What advice would current Pam give 25-year-old Pam?

25 year old Pam was an Elementary School Teacher. Current Pam would tell her, "Look out, a huge wave of technology is heading your way!" Aging myself, but I typed my college papers on a manual typewriter and went through a lot of white out! At 25, I wouldn't have a cell phone for another 10 years! So much changed in such a short period of time. Smart phones, personal computers and the World Wide Web all came at us in a flurry. I would have told 25-year-old Pam to get ready, because technology will drive businesses and you are going to want to be part of that!

What is a fun fact about yourself?

My husband and I live on 40 acres north of Grimes and raise longhorn cattle.
